Exhibiting at ‘Y Lle Celf’, Eisteddfod Genedlaethol 2022

30/07/22 – 06/08/22

Y Lle Celf is the Eisteddfod’s visual arts gallery and it’s one of the most popular buildings on the Maes, attracting up to 40,000 visitors during the week.  Y Lle Celf is a national celebration of visual arts and architecture in Wales, and an important shop window for the industry as well as being among the main attractions on the Maes.

The gallery houses the work of some of Wales’ leading artists, with the work selected as part of the open exhibition.  Any artist with a Welsh link or background is able to compete to be part of the exhibition.

The work of the winners of the Gold Medal for Fine Art, the Gold Medal for Design and Craft and the Gold Medal for Architecture is displayed in Y Lle Celf, and a number of events are held both in the gallery itself and the Societies.

A catalogue is produced to coincide with the exhibition every year, and this is an interesting and important record of the work on show.  Poetry inspired by the exhibition will also be published later in the year.

Remember you can help to choose one of Y Lle Celf’s winners – The People’s Choice.  Choose your favourite work in the exhibition and let us know.  The most popular work will win the Josef Herman Prize, The People’s Choice, on the final Saturday, so remember to cast your vote.

Y Lle Celf is organised by the Eisteddfod, and supported by the Arts Council of Wales.
