I am very happy to announce that I’ve been awarded a ‘Create’ Research and Development Grant from Arts Council Wales to explore ways of combining hot and warm glass techniques. Currently my vessels are limited in form by the kiln formed process. Initial experiments have been very promising. I will become more efficient in the use of resources, reducing the carbon footprint of my practice and increasing its sustainability. The Once and Future Garden’ draws inspiration from the magnificent lost gardens of Samarkand in southeastern Uzbekistan. A deep tradition unites the diverse objects displayed in the pavilion. Admired individually, the pieces tell stories of human skill, creativity, and mastery of material, showcasing the work of four studios at the intersection of art, craft, and contemporary design.
